Timeless Royal Heritage – 1st Anniversary Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta

Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta (RAY) celebrated its first anniversary on Sunday 25th November 2012. Under the theme “Timeless Royal Heritage”, various traditional art and culture events were laid on to mark the successful completion of the hotel’s first year of operation.

Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta came into being on 27th October 2011 as a four-star hotel as a result of a cooperation agreement between the hotel’s owner PT Putra Mataram Indah Wisata and management company PT Grahawita Santika (PT GWS).

 

The event marking the official birthday of Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta took place over a full day, from Sunday morning to Monday morning, kicking off on Sunday at 6 a.m. with a Heritage Cycling Tour from the hotel to Prambanan Temple, which wrapped up at 10 a.m.

 

On Sunday morning a golf tournament entitled “Royal Swing under the Majestic Mountain” was hosted by the Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X at Merapi Golf Cangkringan from 6.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The evening’s events kicked off at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed at 7 p.m. by an official blessing attended the governor in the Royal Garden.

The event saw the signing of the official plaque, the launching of a book about Ambarrukmo, and the handing over of a five-star certificate, all officiated by Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X.

 

 

 

After the ceremony in the Royal Garden, guests were treated to a fashion show entitled “Royal Catwalk” featuring the work of 25 designers from APPMI Yogyakarta under the theme “Indonesia Fashion Week 2013’, as well as a “Royal Jazz” show by the Yogyakarta Jazz Community.

 

 

A number of cultural events facilitated by the Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta were held at Pendopo Agung Ambarrukmo, including a Dolanan Bocah (children’s play), a Javanese language course, Jemparingan (archery), macapat (six-line Javanese poetry recitation), women’s theatre, and classical Yogyakarta dancing.

 

The climax of the arts and culture event was an all-night wayang kulit show, which was open to all and presented by puppet master Ki Seno Nugroho, entitled Jabang Tetuko and recounting the birth of Gatotkaca, second generation of the Pandava family.

 

 

 

 

In the hotel ballroom, magically transformed by old-fashioned decorations to depict the “Sinar Bulan”, a tembang kenangan session with Koes Hendratmo at 9 p.m.
